Helldivers 2 On Xbox Helped Us ‘Give The Players What They Want’, Says Arrowhead CEO
It’s worked out great for everyone

Sony’s experiment with bringing Helldivers 2 to Xbox has undoubtedly been a success, with the company highlighting earlier this week how the game was doing “extremely well” thanks in part to its launch on the Xbox Series X and S.
Arrowhead Game Studios has always insisted that the decision was nothing to do with them, but speaking on an episode of The Game Business Podcast this week, CEO Shams Jorjani enthused that it’s worked out great for his team and that players are “happy” because they’ve been “given what they want”.
Here’s a snippet from the interview:
“For us it made a lot of sense, and players have been clamouring for Xbox since day one.”
“It’s gone really well, we timed it with the release of some Halo ODST content which was another highly requested fan feature. And it turns out, if you give the players what they want, they’ll be happy.”
The folks at Sony haven’t shared too much about Helldivers 2’s success on Xbox, but recent reports have suggested it sold very well at launch in August, and it bodes well for seeing further first-party PS5 titles on Xbox in the future.
As for Arrowhead, the studio is apparently working on a new co-op action game that looks set to land on Xbox whenever it’s released, as Sony won’t be involved in publishing that specific title. Good news for us!
