New York Jets Football Player Shot and is In Critical Condition
New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was critically injured in a shooting early Sunday morning in Midtown Manhattan and remains hospitalized at Bellevue Hospital.
The shooting occurred shortly after 2 a.m. on West 38th Street near Seventh Avenue. Boyd was reportedly shot in the abdomen outside Sei Less restaurant following a dispute that escalated into violence. Sources say the gunman fired two shots before fleeing in a BMW X8 SUV.
A second vehicle — a silver Mercedes-Benz Maybach — also left the area immediately after the gunfire, authorities said. Investigators noted that witnesses have been largely uncooperative. Photos from the aftermath show a Rhino GX, a high-end armored SUV manufactured by US Specialty Vehicles and valued around $300,000, parked outside the restaurant once officers arrived.
Boyd drifted in and out of consciousness before being transported to the hospital, where he is currently listed in critical but stable condition.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
Boyd, a 5-foot-11 defensive back, joined the Jets this season. He previously entered the league with the Minnesota Vikings in 2019 and has also spent time with the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans.
