The TV adaptation of A Court of Thorns and Roses appears to be in flux as a reported emerged that it had been scrapped, only to be debunked shortly after.
TVLine reported that the planned series based on Sarah J. Maas’ romantic fantasy series had been canceled and would not be shopped around to other distributors, meaning that it was likely dead for good. However, Variety countered that report with its own story saying that the series is indeed still in development at Hulu.
A Court of Thorns and Roses is a popular romantic fantasy series in development for Hulu.Originally released back in 2015, A Court of Thorns and Roses features a huntress named Feyre Archeron who is forced to live in the faerie world, and is notable for its adult romantic themes and political intrigue. Several sequels have been released since then, the most recent of them being 2021’s A Court of Silver Flames.
Maas announced in 2021 that she was developing an adaptation of A Court of Thorns with the help of Ronald D. Moore, who is best-known for his work on Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, and For All Mankind. Little was heard of the project in the years after, with Moore telling TVLine in November, “Itās still in development. Weāve written some scripts, and weāre just sort of waiting. I think the whole town is kind of waiting to see if we have actors before things really move forward, but itās still in development.ā
