New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge smoked a seventh-inning, two-run homer to dead-center field in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series to help give his team a 6-3 win. In that moment, second baseman Gleyber Torres tagged up from first base, waiting to see if the ball would go out.

It did, but Judge was asked about the tag-up multiple times postgame. He provided these responses.

MLB Network @MLBNetwork”That was disrespect out of Gleyber, man. He’s seen me hit 58 of those things this year.” 😂

Judge, of course, made the remarks in a jovial tone and didn’t seem particularly perturbed with Torres at all. At any rate, it’s all smiles for the Yanks right now with the Bronx Bombers up two games to zero in the best-of-seven ALCS.

As far as Torres goes, he spoke about the tag-up afterward, saying he was a little “embarrassed.”

Yankees first base coach Travis Chapman apparently told Torres to tag up, per Judge’s remarks, so it wasn’t all on the second baseman. But it didn’t make any difference. And if Guardians center fielder Lane Thomas did catch the ball, then it’s very likely Torres would have coasted into second anyway.

But that didn’t happen. The ball carried over the fence, and it was a big moment for Judge, who entered Tuesday with just two hits in 15 playoff plate appearances this year. He was 0-for-2 with a sacrifice fly in Game 2 before the homer gave the Yanks a couple of insurance runs.

Now New York will look to go up 3-0 in the series on Thursday when the team faces the Guardians in Cleveland. The first pitch is set fpr 5:08 p.m. ET.
