If Aaron Rodgers is going to run for Vice President of the United States, he’s doing a good job of keeping the New York Jets in the dark.

Per Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the Jets “currently don’t believe” Rodgers is going to be part of the presidential ticket for November’s election.

Florio did note that as of Friday the Jets “hadn’t heard from” Rodgers and he hasn’t told them about his plans, one way or another.

Rebecca Davis O’Brien of the New York Times reported on Tuesday that Rodgers and former Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura were on the shortlist of candidates to be Robert Kennedy Jr.’s running mate on an independent ticket.

Kennedy told O’Brien he’s been talking with the Jets quarterback “pretty continuously” for the past month, and both Rodgers and Ventura have “welcomed the overtures” about being a vice presidential candidate.

Rodgers, like Kennedy, has publicly expressed anti-vaccine rhetoric and conspiracy theories. In the wake of CNN’s Pamela Brown reporting Rodgers shared Sandy Hook conspiracy theories in private conversations, he issued a statement on X saying he is “not and have never been of the opinion that the events did not take place.”

Aaron Rodgers @AaronRodgers12As I’m on the record saying in the past, what happened in Sandy Hook was an absolute tragedy. I am not and have never been of the opinion that the events did not take place. Again, I hope that we learn from this and other tragedies to identify the signs that will allow us to…

Kennedy is planning to announce his running mate on March 26 at an event in Oakland, California. Rodgers is from Chico, California, which is approximately 150 miles away from Oakland.

The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt noted it would be extremely difficult for Rodgers to play for the Jets and be a vice-presidential candidate when he has to campaign throughout the fall leading up to the election.

Rodgers, as far as anybody knows, is planning to play football next season. He’s talked about being excited for 2024 and beyond with the Jets.

New York’s front office hasn’t made any moves in free agency to suggest they are concerned about not having Rodgers.
