Adele explains viral NBA meme, denies having fillers in her ‘naturally big’ lips

Adele hates being famous and she’s not afraid to show it.

During her “Weekends with Adele” residency concert in Las Vegas Saturday night, the 16-time Grammy winner opened up about the viral NBA meme of her face looking miserable, revealing she purposely made herself look upset.

“I know it sounds crazy, but I really don’t like being famous, right?” she explained in a fan-posted TikTok video.

“So obviously, I know I’m sitting courtside at a basketball game, whatever. But Rich [Paul] was working the room and, you know, talking to other players and people. I was fine. I didn’t mind.”

“I was just there on my own, looking for Michael Jordan, to be honest with you,” she continued.

“So, the people with the camera came over and asked me twice. They were like, ‘Do you mind if we film you? Can we put you on the screen?’” she recalled.

“I said, ‘Please don’t. I just canceled [my] Las Vegas [residency]. I really don’t wanna be [on camera].’”

“They came back and they filmed me,” she regretfully added.

Adele also explained that her lips looked so big because she was purposefully pouting.

Adele, 35, also addressed the controversy surrounding her lips, as many people have speculated that she got filler injections following her weight loss.

“I have naturally big lips…I don’t need filler,” she gloated.

“The reason I looked like a different person was because I was sulking.”

“Because I was like, ‘These motherf—ers have come back and are filming me against my will.’”

She further lamented, “I was just very annoyed because I asked not to be filmed. But I guess I was asking it by going.”

Adele has been sharing many personal stories and thoughts during her residency at Caesar’s Palace, which kicked off in November 2022 and has been extended twice.

Last week, she called out people who complained about Taylor Swift’s presence at Kansas City Chiefs games.

“[For] all of you complaining about Taylor being at the game, get a f—king life, that’s her f—king boyfriend,” she remarked.

She went on to say she wanted the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl because of their connection to Swift, 34. “She’s actually made it a bit more enjoyable to watch,” she reasoned.
