Adult Star Emily Willis Allegedly Left “Permanently Disabled” After Rehab Stint

The family of Emily Willis is seeking compensation for a life-changing ordeal.Ā

One year after the adult film actress, real name Litzy Lara Banuelos, received care from Malibu Lighthouse Treatment Centers, her family has filed a lawsuit alleging dependent adult abuse, negligence, professional negligence and unlawful, unfair or fraudulent business practices due to the 25-year-oldā€™s current incapacitation.Ā

The lawsuit, filed Dec. 27 and obtained by E! News, alleges that due to a ā€œdirect and proximate resultā€ of the care facilityā€™s ā€œabandonment, recklessness and negligence in failing to provide care and treatmentā€ during her stay last January, Willis has suffered ā€œirreversibleā€ brain damage, permanent physical and mental incapacity, pain and emotional distressā€”among other damages.Ā

Willis had been admitted to the luxury rehabilitation center for a ketamine addiction. At the time, the lawsuit states, she had been ingesting five to six grams per day and was suffering from bladder inflammation, night terrors, as well as anxiety and PTSD. When she was admitted, her caretaker Yesenia Lara Cooperā€”the plaintiff in the lawsuitā€”alleged that she was considerably underweight but was not given a consultation with a dietician.Ā Ā

Further, the lawsuit states that Willisā€™ health was allowed to rapidly decline before she was given care, with notes from physicians referenced in the lawsuit state she was suffering from intense pain, dehydration and a urinary tract infection.Ā

Willis continued to reside in the care of the Malibu rehabilitation centerā€”with notes from doctors detailing her declining conditionā€” until she was found unconscious on Feb. 4, just over a week after she was admitted, per the lawsuit. She was subsequently given CPR, and transported to a nearby hospital, according to the filing.Ā

Elsewhere, the lawsuit alleges that while Willis ā€œrefusedā€ care from physicians on several occasions, she qualified as a ā€œdependent adultā€ and the physicians on staff failed to provide her with ā€œsafe conditions,ā€ ā€œproper care,ā€ and left her to be ā€œunattended and unassisted for excessively long periods of time.ā€Ā

Willisā€™ family is seeking ā€œno less than the jurisdictional amountā€ of compensation for damages caused by her debilitation, as well as restitution, and coverage for attorney and legal fees.Ā

E! News has reached out to attorneys for Willis but has not yet heard back. An attorney contact for Malibu Lighthouse Treatment Centers was not immediately available.
