AFCON Qualifiers: South African-based Nigerian star doubtful for Super Eagles vs Libya showdown

Nigerian defender Olisa Ndah is a doubt for the Super Eagles’ crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya, as concerns over his fitness continue to grow, Soccernet.ng reports.

The South African-based star, who plies his trade with Orlando Pirates, sustained an injury during a recent match against Polokwane City, leaving his availability for both club and country in question.

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro confirmed that Ndah, along with his teammate Monnapule Saleng, missed the club’s 1-0 victory over Richards Bay due to injuries.

Despite speculation that the duo was being rested ahead of the MTN8 final against Stellenbosch, Riveiro clarified that both players were nursing injuries and may miss the upcoming final as well.

“In our last game against Polokwane City, both Olisa Ndah and Monnapule Saleng were subbed because of different injuries,” Riveiro said. “We’re not 100% sure that they will be available for the final.”

Ndah’s injury poses a significant concern for Nigeria ahead of their AFCON qualifier showdown against Libya.

The defender played a key role in Nigeria’s defense against Rwanda, and his absence could leave the Super Eagles short of options at the back as they aim to secure a place in the continental tournament.

Nigeria will be hoping for Ndah’s swift recovery as the clash against Libya approaches, with the team needing to field a strong side for the important fixture.
