After Luke Kwon’s Masters Rumor Spreads Like Wildfire, the Bitter PGA Tour Truth Gets Hilariously Revealed
The inaugural Creators Classic started and ended with a whim at the East Lake Golf Club. While Paige Spiranac’s worries were brushed aside, Luke Kwon took home the title after winning the intense playoff. Although there was no winner’s payout, in the end, Kwon received something else or was rumored to have done so.
Luke Kwon was tied at 1-under with three other creators, which forced a playoff on the 18th hole. While all three missed their birdies, Kwon drained the birdie and claimed the first Creators Classic title. After this, Golf Magazine’s writer, Claire Rogers, posted intriguing news on X. Rogers announced that because of Kwon’s victory in the Creators Classic, he was invited to the 2025 Masters and the Open Championship.
The photo shared by the reporter resembled the Masters’ invite usually sent to the pros and had Luke Kwon’s name engraved on the envelope. Just as Michael S. Kim warned Rogers that many in the golf world would believe the news, it quickly went viral, and people did believe that it was the truth. Later, the reporter tweeted that it was a joke and that fans should not retweet it anymore.

Netizens react to rumors of Luke Kwon being bustedUnlike Bryson DeChambeau, Luke Kwon has only 289k subscribers on YouTube, but still, he defeated the 15 other creators at East Lake and emerged victorious. Although it was later revealed that the news of Kwon getting the Masters and Open Championship invite was a joke, up until then, this fan believed it. And at that time, they were pretty frustrated that a video creator could so easily make it to the two majors. Stunned by the news, they commented, “He wins a 9-hole exhibition and this happens?! I gotta start my YouTube channel TODAY.”
But they were not alone in trusting the news. Another fan furiously asked, “wtf kinda joke is this.” Usually, the Golf.com reporter Claire Rogers reports legit news of the golf world. Thus, many people in the golf world did not doubt the legitimacy of the news, and whether it was far from the truth. Thousands believed it, despite many joking that it was not April 1st. Hence, this netizen jokingly accepted, “You report the facts, so yeah, you duped a lot of us lol.” Another user trusted the news at first but then understood that it was a joke. They said, “Good one, had me do a triple take.”

While many laughed at the joke and a few were shocked, a golf enthusiast suggested something different for the next Creators Classic winner. They asked, “All jokes aside, if they are going to continue to lean into the creators, I wish they would offer the winner an exemption into a small event. Baracuda, Peurto Rico, some sh*t like that.” It should be noted that the Creators Classic was a one-day event with only 9 holes to play. On the other hand, the PGA Tour event extends to four days with 18 holes played on each. It would be impractical for the PGA Tour to allow the winner from Creators Classic to join a regular event, but it might not be impossible.
