An epic quest with a side of betrayal

Save the land of Engard against a primordial evil
Engage in real-time combat
Solve puzzles and avoid traps to survive

Pixel-art RPGs will always hold a special place in my heart, and if you’re a fan of these Zelda-likes on mobile, then Soedesco’s Airoheart might just be your cup of tea. As the titular hero, you’ll embark on an epic quest to save the world (of course) against an ancient evil – the only problem is that it’s your own brother who’s plotting to unleash this primordial darkness across the land of Engard. What’s an RPG without betrayal, right?

In Airoheart, you can look forward to exploring a lush fantasy world while dabbling in real-time combat. You’ll need to strategise the best moves to unleash to turn the tide of battle in your favour, with a variety of bombs, spells, and potions you can wield to survive the adventure.Ā

As you collect gear and level up on your journey, you’ll also encounter a colourful cast of characters with their own backstories as well, which are definitely welcome company when you’re navigating the treacherous dungeons along the way.

The top-down perspective adds to the charm here, and it’s all very much reminiscent of the good ol’ days of RPGs. There’s just something about these epic quests that’s innately compelling to me, and when you top that off with the retro-inspired visuals, it does seem like a clear winner.

If that’s something that’s right up your alley, why not take a look at our list of the best retro-inspired games on iOS to get your fill?

In the meantime, if you’re eager to join in on all the fun, you can do so by checking out Airoheart on the App Store and on Google Play. You can also join the community of followers on the official Facebook page to stay updated on all the latest developments, visit the official website for more info, or take a little peek at the embedded clip above to get a feel of the vibes and visuals.
