Ajax forward a target for Arsenal
England will hope to reach the final of Euro 2024 when they face The Netherlands in the semis on Wednesday.
The Three Lions have won just one of their five matches at the tournament so far in normal time, relying on extra-time and penalties for victory in their last two games respectively.
Manager Gareth Southgate will hope to see his side improve against the Dutch, who England have not faced at a major tournament since beating them 4-1 at Euro ’96.
Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman will be confident of his side’s chances, though, having shown improvement in the knockout stages after a relatively lacklustre group stage.
Now, it has emerged that one member of Koeman’s squad is a target for Premier League side Arsenal.
Brobbey scored 22 goals in 43 games for Ajax last season
According to Football Insider, Dutch forward Brian Brobbey is one of a number of targets for the Gunners as they search for attacking reinforcements.
The 22-year-old is part of The Netherlands’ squad at the Euros this summer, although he hasn’t yet made an appearance at the tournament, despite enjoying an outstanding campaign last term.
In total Brobbey scored 22 goals in 43 games across all competitions for Dutch giants Ajax, as well as registering 12 assists.
The report claims that Arsenal are on the hunt for a new striker and, having been forced to abandon pursuits of both victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres, the North London outfit are now looking elsewhere.
Brobbey has therefore emerged as a potential target following his superb season, but the report suggests that talks over a potential move are not at an advanced stage.
The Dutchman’s current contract with Ajax is set to run until the end of the 2026/27 season, which puts the Eredivisie giants under very little pressure to sell him this summer.
