Alessio Crociani and Rachel Brown Take the Tape in Ironman 70.3 Warsaw

It was a race marked more by mystery than metrics, but that didn’t stop Italy’s Alessio Crociani and Great Britain’s Rachel Brown from grabbing the top steps of the podium at Ironman 70.3 Warsaw this Sunday.

With a malfunctioning timing system casting a shadow over the race’s transparency, fans and analysts were left in the dark for much of the day. The live tracking was riddled with gaps, particularly in Crociani’s case – his name missing from virtually every split along the course. Still, he emerged from the haze victorious, clocking a final time of 3:33:06, just fourteen seconds ahead of Denmark’s Valdemar Solok (3:33:20), suggesting an exciting finish we may never fully understand.

This marks Crociani’s second professional win, hot on the heels of his maiden victory at Challenge Cesenatico just weeks ago. Estonia’s Henry RĂ€ppo, fresh off a strong second-place showing at The Championship, rounded out the men’s podium in 3:34:27.

In the women’s race, Rachel Brown put together a composed and commanding performance, crossing the line in 4:08:40. Italy’s Luisa Iogna Prat followed just under two minutes later in 4:10:30, while Germany’s Katharina KrĂŒger secured third in 4:13:54.
