Alice Naylor-Leyland and Harley Viera-Newton Unveiled Their Maximalist Tablescape Collection at a Beverly Hills Cocktail Party

With the first day of spring upon us and the season of al fresco entertaining imminent, table-scaper Alice Naylor-Leyland and designer-slash-DJ Harley Viera-Newton seized the opportunity to unveil their forthcoming collaboration at the Maybourne Hotel in Beverly Hills on Monday.

Guests including Jessica Hart, Gia Coppola, Ever Carradine and Rebecca Rittenhouse, all attired in Viera-Newton’s whimsical HVN dresses, turned out to toast the pair’s colorful tablescape collection over champagne and scones, and a cool summery soundtrack curated by DJ Harley.

The pair first met in London years ago through friends, and instantly bonded over their love of playful prints. And the Mrs. Alice x HVN collection, which launches exclusively on MrsAlice.com on May 1, doesn’t skimp on either with a riot of bows, gingham, cherries, and poodles adorning the selection of linens, glassware, and crockery.

“I was a customer first,” Viera-Newton told Vogue. “I love a tablescape, I love a holiday, so around Christmas or Easter I would always go straight to Mrs. Alice to see what was new on the site. I was a genuine fan and there was just so much synergy and overlap with our ideas it was actually really difficult to narrow it all down.”

As the crowd admired the beautifully laid tables, Naylor-Leyland, who regularly entertains with her husband Tom at Stibbington House, their fairy-tale-like country home in Cambridgeshire, mused on the origins of her business. “I started my brand because I was 24 when I moved to the countryside and was quite a staid, mahogany table environment. I wanted it make it fun,” she told Vogue. “I’m also an awful cook and the food for me is a major afterthought. My husband’s the cook and I do the pretty tables.”

As for her top tips for elevating any table this summer? “Layer whenever you can. Don’t be afraid of color. And add a bow”
