American Express 2024 LIVE commentary: Tee times, field and how to follow – Scottie Scheffler headlines California event
The PGA Tour will kick off its California swing at the 2024 American Express this week.
The La Quinta tournament is a popular event on Tour and was won by Jon Rahm last season.

With Rahm now on the LIV Golf circuit, a new champion will be crowned this year and Scottie Scheffler is favourite to claim the title.
Scheffler, who won the Hero World Challenge before Christmas, finished T5 at The Sentry earlier this month and will now be eyeing his first victory of the new season.
But plenty of other top names are heading to Los Angeles with hopes of claiming the trophy.

The American Express is taking place from Thursday, January 18 to Sunday, January 21.

It is being held at three courses before the final round is held back at the Pete Dye Stadium Course. The courses are:
Pete Dye Stadium Course: 7,187 yards, par 72
La Quinta Country Club: 7,060 yards, par 72
Nicklaus Tournament Course: 7,147 yards, par 72
Play will begin at 8:30am local time which is 4:30pm UK time.

The event will also be broadcast live on Sky Sports Golf with coverage set to begin at 9pm for the first two days and at 7pm over the weekend.

The American Express: Field and tee times
The field for The American Express will be made up of 156 players.
World No 1 Scheffler headlines the action while Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, Wyndham Clark and Tom Kim are also teeing it up.
Tony Finau, Justin Thomas and Rickie Fowler are competing as are Shane Lowry, Robert MacIntyre, Aaron Rai and Matt Wallace.
Will Zalatoris, who underwent back surgery in April 2023, is also in the field.

The American Express: What has been said?
Daniel Berger will make his return to action in California following an 18-month absence with a back injury.
He said: “That was the worst six months of my life.
“I’ve had a pretty easy life. I play golf for a living, it’s not that stressful. But there was a point that I would have given up golf for the rest of my life not to feel like that.
“When I took time off, I was a top-20 player. I’ll be coming back with nothing.

“I get it. It’s part of the game. You’ve got to earn everything.
“When I come back, I’ll come back with fire in my belly. I’ll enjoy the challenge of getting back to where I was.”
