Americana Noir Artist SARAH KING Debuts Title Song from Upcoming Album “When It All Goes Down”
With the debut of Americana Noir Artist Sarah King’s album’s title track on March 1, 2024, Sarah King announces the pre-order of her eagerly awaited album, When It All Goes Down, set for release on March 29, 2024.
The album is a collaborative effort with producer, engineer, and arranger David Baron, known for his work with The Lumineers, Noah Kahan, and Meghan Trainor. King’s album masterfully blends elements of classic rock, Southern soul, authentic country, and raw folk blues into an inspirational and cathartic experience that feels deeply intimate yet universally relatable. The track “When It All Goes Down” features the electrifying lead guitar of Josh Cournoyer (Ben Folds, Robert Finley) and is bolstered by King’s compelling vocals and steady rhythm guitar, making it both anthemic and empowering.
King offers a candid insight into her inspiration: “This was inspired by doctors who don’t listen to women, but really, it can be applied to any situation where we feel we’re being ignored or given the brush-off for any number of reasons,” she states. “I try to stand up for myself in situations like this, and I’m not always the best, so I put it into a song to remind myself.”

Living in a secluded log cabin in Vermont’s Green Mountains, without cell reception, Sarah King has endured many challenges on her journey to When It All Goes Down. Born and raised in New England, she spent her early twenties in the South, honing her musical skills in a Georgia-based rock band and navigating the complexities of adulthood. After returning to the North, King found herself at a crossroads, seeking solace in the authentic sounds of front porch folk and traditional blues, a reflection of her own experiences with loss and grief.
King’s life mirrored the tragic themes of her music following the consecutive losses of her dog, first husband, and mother. “All of a sudden, my life began to imitate art,” she reflects. Avoiding grief, she distanced herself from music until she found solace in group therapy and grief counseling, which helped her confront and express her feelings through music.
King’s exploration into darker and more introspective themes is evident throughout When It All Goes Down. The album exudes a subtle swing and robust energy, capturing the tension between despair and hope. King’s journey of self-discovery and her ability to articulate the complexities of human emotion through her music offers a profound and relatable experience for listeners. With its integrity, emotion, and dynamic energy, When It All Goes Down stands as a testament to King’s resilience and talent as an artist.
