Amid Jamaica’s Heartbreaks, Noah Lyles’ Mother Shows Support for Country With Paris Olympics Gift

Jamaica’s track and field campaign is off to a rough start. Kishane Thompson and Oblique Seville have both made it to the semi-finals. However, superstars Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce bowed out of the competition for unfortunate reasons. With two gold medal favorites in the 100m and 200m women’s events out of the picture, heartbroken Jamaican fans found a supporter in Noah Lyles‘ mother, Keisha Caine Bishop.

The defending world champion’s mother posted a heartfelt tribute to her son Noah Lyles ahead of his 100m semifinals in Paris. Bishop showcased her support with unique nail art, featuring the American flag on the index and ring fingernails of her right hand. However, there was a twist: she also sported the Jamaican flag on the same fingernails of her left hand.

So you might be wondering why Keisha Caine would support the country with two of her son’s biggest rivals. Well, the Olympic bronze medalist’s mother had a good reason. “I’m ready to cheer for @junellebromfield & @teamjamaica tonight as well as @teamusa & @nojo18 this morning,” posted Noah Lyles’ mother. She voiced her support for her son and his girlfriend, Junelle Bromfield.

Keisha Cain, who has grown to love her son’s Olympian girlfriend, will also root for the Jamaican. With Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson leg injuries ahead of their 100m semi-finals and 200m heats, respectively, Jamaica’s hopes of individual medals lie with Bromfield, Stacey-Ann Williams, and Nickisha Pryce. They will represent their nation in the 400m event.

So it’s safe to assume that Noah Lyles’ mother must’ve been a little sad after Bromfiled’s team finished in fifth place in the 400m mixed relay. Thankfully, the two-time Olympian has arrived in Paris with a different mindset.

Noah Lyles’ girlfriend will sprint with an unburdened mindDespite not finishing in the top three at her first team event in Paris, the Tokyo bronze medalist will have two more shots at Olympic glory. While she hopes to at least repeat her success in the Women’s 4x400m relay, she’s more excited about the 400m individual race. Three years ago, the Jamaican regretted not qualifying for any individual events. However, this year it’s a different story.

“I said at trials it felt as if a burden was lifted off my shoulders and I still feel like that right now,” Noah Lyles’ girlfriend told The Jamaican Gleaner. “I am just running with a lot more love than I was before,” Bromfield said ahead of her 400m heats scheduled for August 5th. So, with the support of her boyfriend and her mother, the Jamaican is in high spirits.

Keisha Cain won’t miss the opportunity to watch Noah Lyles battle for gold on the track at Stade de France. However, she’ll be rooting for Junelle Bromfield with equal enthusiasm. Do you think both Lyles and Bromfield will earn Olympic gold for their nations? Tell us in the comments.
