André 3000 Takes ‘New Blue Sun’ for a Second Tour Run at Larger Venues
The 26-date trek kicks off in New Orleans at Orpheum Theater and runs through the fall
André 3000 is hitting the road this fall for his eccentric New Blue Sun album once again. On Tuesday, the musician announced that he’ll be touring his most recent flute project this fall, but this time stopping in more cities and larger venues across the United States.
André will start his tour in New Orleans on Sept. 19, before stopping in cities such as San Diego, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Salt Lake City. He’ll be performing in large theaters, including L.A.’s Greek Theatre and Portland’s Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.
Joining him on the road once more will be DJ and producer Carlos Niño, along with musicians Nate Mercereau, and Surya Botofasina with Deantoni Parks. Tickets for the run of shows will go on sale Friday, June 28 at 10 a.m. local time.
A Rolling Stone review of his show in New York City last year lauded the musician for “constructing an interactive, free-flowing, concert experience,” while a review of his flute record described the project as “an 87-minute sound world you’ll love getting lost in.” Since releasing New Blue Sun, André’s joined Kamasi Washington on “Dream State.”
Before heading on the road, André will stop by various music festivals, including Toronto Jazz Fest and Montréal Jazz Fest in Canada, before heading to Europe for Paris’ La Gaité Lyrique and the Netherlands’ North Sea Jazz Fest in July.
