Angel Reese selected to Ebony 2024 Power 100

Rising WNBA star Angel Reese is continuing her trailblazing 2024 with yet another accomplishment.

Earlier this week, Ebony unveiled its prestigious 2024 Ebony Power 100 list, which includes Reese as one of its most influential figures of this past year. Listed alongside many other notable names such as Keke Palmer, Maya Rudolph, Snoop Dogg, SZA and more, the honor further solidifies Reese as a defining face of the WNBA. This past August, Reese made history when she became the first player in WNBA history to notch three consecutive games of 20 or more rebounds in a game against the Las Vegas Aces.

Reese has also been incredibly successful in the sponsorship department as well, boasting several noteworthy partnerships to her name. That includes a deal with Hershey’s — a nod to her fanbase who refers to themselves as “Reese Pieces.” The 22-year-old athlete also made headlines last week when she appeared alongside fellow basketball player Kysre Gondrezick at the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

Here is some more information about her newest accolade.

Ebony Power 100 HistoryApproaching its 79th anniversary, the Ebony Power 100 list recognizes outstanding individuals who are succeeding in and transforming their fields. The 2024 iteration highlights the brightest and most talented minds across 10 dynamic categories encompassing the vast scope of Black influence and innovation globally.

Here is what Candace Rodney, Executive Vice President, Content & President of Ebony Studios, had to say about Reese’s selection:

“Angel Reese embodies the trailblazing spirit that EBONY’s Power 100 celebrates. Her unapologetic confidence and push for equity have sparked vital conversations about representation, particularly for women of color in sports.

“By challenging conventions and embracing her authentic self, she’s inspiring a new generation to define success on their own terms. Her spot in the Generation Next category recognizes Angel as a catalyst for change.

“Angel Reese isn’t just breaking barriers; she’s crafting a whole new playbook.”

Ebony will celebrate the 2024 Power 100 list at a star-studded award ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 17, at Nya Studios West in Los Angeles, where Reese is expected to make an appearance.
