AngryBird Wins FAV CUP 2023

The FAV Cup 2023 has begun a Japanese Street Fighter 6 tournament with most of the top players. The tournament brought together tons of major competitors, but only one could walk away the winner in the Invitational side of things. While we’re still in the midst of the FAV Cup 2023, the singles side of things has wrapped up and it saw AngryBird walk away the victor.

Up against players like Tokido, MenaRD, and NuckleDu, it was a particularly stacked tournament. AngryBird was up against most of the best SF 6 players, how did he win?

AngryBird Wins FAV Cup 2023
The singles part of the FAV Cup 2023 only took a day, but we saw quite a few of the best players up against each other. In the opening round, we saw Tokido up against MenaRD where he won and moved forward. In the second game, angrybird went up against sako and won with a clean 2-0 sweep. Daigo and moke also won their early matches to go through.

Heading into the second round of the upper bracket, we’d already whittled things down to just four players. Tokido faced Moke, and went through to the final. AngryBird was up against Diago in a closer match, but still went ahead 2-1. In the final of this side of things Tokido met AngryBird, and won without too much resistance at 2-0.

This wasn’t the end of the line for AngryBird though. He went down to the loser’s final where he beat moke to get another shot at winning the FAV Cup 2023. In the Grand Final, the odds were against him coming in from the redemption bracket. He won the first round 2-0, forcing a bracket reset. Things came down to a third match between the two which was considerably closer, but AngryBird did manage to pull out the win here.

With this latest win AngryBird, has beaten quite a few major SF 6 players. Hopefully we’ll see similar fun fights in the 3-v-3 tournament.

FAV Cup 2023 Preview
Street Fighter 6 is probably the biggest fighting game of 2023. The Capcom Cup is coming up in January. However, if you can’t wait to watch more Street Fighter then the FAV Cup 2023 will be something a bit different. This is how the event will work and what you can catch at the tournament.

This is a Street Fighter 6 event with a few different strands. The first event is a singles tournament with a familiar format to most fighting game esports events. This tournament is an invitational, with some players getting their spot from the open qualifier just a few hours before. The second strand of the event though takes a different approach.

The second side of things is a 3v3 team event. This is taking a similar form to the Street Fighter League. At the Cup, we’ll see both strands of competitive Street Fighter represented. It’s a Japanese tournament taking place over December 29-30.

Singles Tournament at FAV Cup 2023
The Singles tournament at the event is going to feature 8 of the top international players. Already locked in for the event are Tokido, MenaRD, Oil King, Sako, AngryBird, Daigo, NuckleDu. These are some of the best Street Fighter 6 players, seeing who comes out on top of this bracket is going to be big for fans.

3V3 Tournament
The second side of the FAV Cup 2023 is a 3V3 tournament. Many of the same players from the Singles tournament are taking part here. They’ll be grouped into threes to represent different regions of the world. This is almost a World Cup of Street Fighter 6.

We’re weeks away from the Capcom Cup concluding. However, with major events like the FAV Cup 2023 still upcoming there’s plenty to look forward to in Street Fighter right now.
