Anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Officially Announced by Studio Trigger

Living on the edge

We’ve known for a little while that a new Cyberpunk 2077 anime is in the works, but now we have more information: it’ll be a sequel to the outstanding Cyberpunk: Edgerunners – and yes, Japanese animation house Studio Trigger is once again at the helm.

ā€œCyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is in production,ā€ an announcement on X (or Twitter) reveals. ā€œIt presents a new standalone 10-episode story from the world of Cyberpunk 2077 – a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge. When the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?ā€

The announcement’s accompanied by some outstanding new artwork from Ichigo Kanno, which we’ve embedded above.

While no release date has been revealed, you can expect the show to air on Netflix, like the original.

The first season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was a wonderful achievement, depicting a hyperviolent story with sumptuous artwork and animation.

In fact, so impactful was the series that collaborations featuring characters like Lucy have been confirmed for various other pieces of media, such as Guilty Gear Strive and Wuthering Waves.
