Anne Hathaway Reveals She’s 5 Years Sober
Anne Hathaway is entering the CoHo cinematic universe.
The Princess Diaries star has been cast in the movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s chilling book Verity, the author confirmed on Instagram Nov. 20. The film will be directed by The Big Sick helmer Michael Showalter, who also led Hathaway in another book-to-movie adaptation: 2024’s The Idea of You.
This time, Hathaway will play fictional author Verity Crawford in the Amazon MGM Studios movie, according to multiple outlets.
When Verity is not able to finish her best-selling villain series after suffering a mysterious accident, her husband Jeremy Crawford hires up-and-coming author Lowen Ashleigh to write the final books. But while researching the novels, Lowen uncovers several of Verity’s family secrets that make her question reality.
Additional castings—including for the characters of Lowen and Jeremy—have not been revealed.
In addition to Hathaway and Showalter, the Verity team includes another creative who is all too familiar with the suspense genre: screenwriter Nick Antosca, who created The Act (starring Joey King as Gypsy Rose Blanchard) and Candy (starring Jessica Biel as Candy Montgomery).
And no one is more thrilled than Hoover herself.
“Verity is coming to theaters and I am so excited for this cast and the script and the director and the whole team bringing this to life,” the author wrote on Instagram. “Cannot wait. More coming soon!”

This won’t be the first time one of Hoover’s books has been reimagined for the big screen. Earlier this year, Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively starred in the adaptation of her 2016 novel It Ends With Us, about florist Lily Bloom (Lively) who ends up in a tumultuous relationship with neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Baldoni).
“I started writing this book a decade ago,” Hoover shared on Instagram ahead of the It Ends With Us premiere. “A lot has changed in the last ten years. But the support you guys have shown time and time again is unwavering. Sure, the book world is a little bit louder now and a little bit more chaotic, but it is full of love, good intentions, cheerleaders and some of the best friends I’ve ever made. When I say I am floored by the way you all showed up today. WOW.”
The 44-year-old added, “This book has been surrounded by actors and filmmakers who have worked very hard to do right by all of you.”

Things only get worse now that he’s solo and must continue his mission to reverse solar dimming and save humanity from extinction. NBD!
William Morrow
Margo’s Got Money Troubles
Based on: Rufi Thorpe’s 2024 novel
Starring: Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer and Nicole Kidman
Premieres: TBD on Apple TV+
Why we’re Excited: Is it really a limited series if it doesn’t have Kidman popping up in it? Thorpe’s book—following the daughter of a former Hooters waitress and a onetime pro-wrestler who turns to OnlyFans after becoming a single mom at 20—is already excellent on its own. But this casting has certainly placed this eight-episode series at the top of the must-watch list.
