Another One! Jonathan Majors’ Movie ‘Magazine Dreams’ Reportedly Dropped By Studio After Actor’s Conviction

Jonathan Majors can’t seem to catch a break. New reports claim that his latest movie, ‘Magazine Dreams,’ has been dropped by its distributor.

According to PEOPLE, Searchlight Pictures has decided to return the film rights to the filmmaker of the movie. This is reportedly in light of Majors’ guilty verdict in December.

His Latest Movie Has Reportedly Scrapped By Studio
‘Magazine Dreams’ promised to showcase Majors’ acting prowess, playing the role of an aspiring bodybuilder named Killian Maddox.

The character juggles therapy appointments, part-time shifts at a grocery store, and caring for his ailing grandfather while chasing his dream of making it big as a professional bodybuilder.

However, following the legal proceedings involving Majors, the film distributor has decided to disassociate itself from the project.

The 2023 Sundance Film Festival screened the movie in January 2023, indicating they had finalized the film long before Major’s assault case.

PEOPLE reports that the initial plan was to release ‘Magazine Dreams’ in theaters in December 2023. But given the circumstances surrounding Majors’ court case, they seemingly held off on announcing an official release date.

Walt Disney Studios, the parent company of Searchlight Pictures, also removed the project from its list of upcoming releases, further suggesting that they had pulled the movie.

The future of ‘Magazine Dreams’ now hangs in limbo. It’s unclear whether another distributor will pick up the film or if they will shelve it indefinitely.

But by the look of things, Searchlight Pictures and Walt Disney Studios won’t be part of the film moving forward.

Jonathan Majors’ Conviction
As the roomies will probably call, the actor was on trial over accusations by his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, who alleged Majors had assaulted her in an incident on March 25, 2023.

The nine-person jury found him guilty of one misdemeanor assault charge and one harassment violation. His sentencing is scheduled for February 6.

But in the lead-up to his next court appearance, Majors’ film projects have been dropping left to right.

Jonathan Majors Dropped From Dennis Rodman Biopic
One week ago, reports emerged that Majors had also been dropped from the Dennis Rodman biopic ’48 Hours in Vegas.’

The producers cast Majors to play the lead role in the film, which chronicles the infamous two-day trip of the former basketball star to Sin City during the 1998 NBA Finals.

Rodman had been brought on board as executive producer of the movie. But reports suggest that Lionsgate returned the film to the producers as they now search for a new partner to support and distribute the project, according to NBC News.

The guilty verdict has evidently cast a shadow over Majors’ acting career and disrupted the production schedule of the movies he had in the pipeline.

In December, Marvel Studios announced it had ended its working relationship with the California native after the conclusion of his court case.

Executives had planned to include his character, Kang the Conqueror, in a standalone ‘Avengers’ spin-off and 2027’s ‘Secret Wars. The decision, presumably, must’ve been a tough one.

These superhero films can take years to produce, so Majors’ verdict would’ve completely thrown off initial plans to expand Kang’s involvement in Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A representative confirmed that the company was no longer working with Majors, per BBC News.
