Antony pushing for Man Utd exit as club targets Eze – Paper Round

Manchester United winger Antony is looking to leave on loan, and may have already played his last game for the club, The Sun reports.

Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce lead the way in the race to sign the Brazilian, and with the Turkish window still open, that move could yet come to fruition.

The Sun adds: “Antony’s former club Ajax are also monitoring the situation – as well as teams in Spain, France and Saudi Arabia.

“The player has told Man Utd he wants out and the club are believed to be keen to push through a loan deal.

“The Turkish transfer window is open until Friday. But any permanent departure is not likely to happen until next summer.

“Antony joined the Red Devils for £85.5million two years ago on a five-year deal worth a reported £200,000 per week.

“But he has failed to settle at Old Trafford and has played just one minute so far in the Premier League this season.”

Man Utd monitor Eze

With Antony one potential outgoing, United could target Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze next summer, with the England international of interest but also a Manchester City target.

United also want to sign a defender and a midfielder next summer, but the Manchester Evening News identifies Eze as one of the forwards they will look to sign.

The MEN adds: “United are expected to continue tracking Everton centre half Jarrad Branthwaite after having two offers of £43m and £50m rejected for the England international in the summer.

“Everton valued Branthwaite at between £70m and £80m in the summer and there was surprise at Goodison Park that United swiftly agreed a €70m deal to sign fellow centre back Leny Yoro from Lille.

“Branthwaite and Eze are under contract to their clubs until 2027. Eze has a release clause of £68m that can be reactivated next year.

“United have four wingers following Jadon Sancho’s loan move to Chelsea that includes an obligation to buy Sancho for between £20m and £25m. Alejandro Garnacho, 20, and Amad, 22, are still raw, Marcus Rashford has been out of form for a year and €100m flop Antony’s only appearance so far this term came as an 89th-minute substitute at Brighton.”

Poch to USA – soon

Mauricio Pochettino is on the very of being confirmed as coach of the US men’s national team, the Daily Mail reports.

Pochettino has been weighing up his options since leaving Chelsea in the summer, and the prospect of managing the US leading up to the home 2026 World Cup could prove too enticing to turn down.

The Mail adds: “Should Pochettino be hired to run the USMNT, it would mean both Chelsea’s men’s and women’s first-team managers from last season would now be at the helm of the senior US national teams with Emma Hayes’ hiring.

“Pochettino has never coached at the international level, with him having tons of big-time club experience at Chelsea, Tottenham, and Paris Saint-Germain.

“The hiring of the next USMNT manager is seen as a can’t-miss move as the United States are one of the hosts of the 2026 World Cup and will host every game from the quarterfinals on.

“Averaging over 30 years between hosting World Cups, with the only other time being 1994, the United States making a run at the next global tournament is a chance that will not come around in any player’s lifetime on the squad.

“The USMNT lost its most recent game on home soil to Canada on Saturday, with most of the team’s most talented players on the pitch.”
