Arsenal could challenge Liverpool and West Ham for eight-goal Nigerian striker

Premier League title contenders Arsenal could attempt a summer swoop for Nigeria-eligible striker Samu Omorodion in the summer,  Soccernet.ng reports.

Omorodion rose to recognition at the start of the season, when he scored his first senior football goal for Granada in against Atletico Madrid. The following week, Rojiblancos swooped in for him even though he had never experienced top-flight football. Then immediately, they loaned him out to fellow Laliga side Granada.

The 19-year-old striker has been quite impressive at Granada and he has a decent return of eight goals in 29 appearances. Because of his performances, Omorodion has been linked with an exit from Atletico Madrid because he is not guaranteed first time football when he returns at the end of the campaign.

According to CaughtOffside, West Ham and Arsenal have been mulling over a deal for the striker with dual nationality. However, in a new development, Liverpool also appear to be interested in Omorodion.

The youngster is valued at $40 million according to Transfermarkt, which is a decent price However, the major factor that would decide Omorodion’s decision is playing time. In the end, if coach Diego Simeone can guarantee him playing time at Atletico Madrid next season, he could choose to remain in Spain.

Omorodion has Nigerian parents, but he was born in Spain and plays for their youth team. His allegiance lies with Spain, but he could still switch to Nigeria.
