This Day in Gaming 🎂In retro news, I’m celebrating the 15th birthday of H.A.W.X., a Clancy-verse Top Gun that sounded like the noise made when too much flem builds up in one’s throat. My overriding memories of it include a third-person lock-on cam, and a fly-through-these-boxes mini-game that would drift your plane onto the tail of your target. Despite making dogfighting ludicrously accessible and taking off to decent sales figures, a lacklustre sequel put this fledgling franchise into a flatspin, then the dirt.

Frontiers is a delightfully weird and experimental evolution of the Sonic games so many of us grew up with. Its series of open-world islands are filled with so much variety and pieces of Sonic history.
