Larian Studios has released Hotfix #28 for Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3 that includes improvements for all things modding.

An update on Steam announced that the patch, which brings Baldur’s Gate 3 to version number 4.1.1.6072089, is now available to download on all platforms. “Hotfix #28 addresses a few crashes and blockers, integrates a handful of gameplay bug fixes, and resolves some issues with the Mod Manager,” Larian said.

Though myriad improvements are hitting all platforms, the PS5 gets namechecked a few times in particular. PS5 players will enjoy quality of life improvements such as the Continue button working the same as Load Game in terms of reporting mod issues, the Mod Manager now correctly reporting the amount of remaining memory after uninstalling a mod, and the fixing of a bizarre bug that saw the DualSense lightbar update with different colors for every single frame of gameplay.

Larian has otherwise fixed the animated downloading bar not appearing when downloading a mod, addressed a crash that occurred when changing pages in the Mod Manager, and improved loading times for players with many mods installed. The full patch notes are available below.

Mods are certainly proving popular with Baldur’s Gate 3 players, who have collectively uploaded more than 1,000 mods and downloaded more than 15 million as of October 1. That number is only for PC too, as Larian shared it alongside announcing the mod-bringing Patch 7 was coming to console.

Mods released so far include one that adds real-time combat to the otherwise turn-based RPG and another that brought entire new maps to Faerûn, including the highly requested Avernus.

Patch 7 otherwise added official content including an “absolutely metal” ending for Karlach and a hidden evil ending. Players will also be relieved to hear that it’s not the final major Baldur’s Gate 3 patch after all.

In our 10/10 review of Baldur’s Gate 3, IGN said: “With crunchy, tactical RPG combat, a memorable story with complex characters, highly polished cinematic presentation, and a world that always rewards exploration and creativity, Baldur’s Gate 3 is the new high-water mark for CRPGs.”
