Best Call of Duty League Teams

The power dynamic in the Call of Duty League can change in the blink of an eye. There’s always an opportunity for an underdog to steal a historic win at any moment, and that’s what makes it such a volatile esports tournament. Even the biggest and most talented Call of Duty teams can and have been beaten numerous times – but the list that follows represents the best Call of Duty teams at the start of the 2024 season.

1. New York Subliners
Following a stellar performance during the 2023 season, the New York Subliners cemented themselves as the best Call of Duty team in the world. It started with a monumental win at Major I that saw the Subliners pull off one of the most dramatic lower-bracket runs in Call of Duty history. Then, if that wasn’t enough, the team did it again at Major V, beating six teams back to back while under the constant threat of a single loss pushing them out of the tournament.

It gets better, though.

At COD Champs 2023, the Subliners dominated the tournament and won the entire event in truly historic fashion, beating Toronto Ultra 5 – 0 in one of the fastest Champs Finals ever. It was a testament to the work that the Subliners put in to remain consistent throughout the season, working internally on their team dynamic as much as they did their abilities in-game. In the 2024 season, the roster is made up of some of the best Call of Duty players in the world, and there are high expectations in store for the team.

2. Atlanta FaZe
Atlanta FaZe has arguably been the most consistent team in Call of Duty esports since 2020 and the birth of the Call of Duty League. In 2021, the team underwent a monumental transformation, securing one of the most dominant streaks we’ve ever seen in esports, ending the season with a win-loss record of 34 – 7 and claiming three Major wins before lifting the Champs trophy at the end of the season. Last season, the team snatched a Major win to prove they’ve still got the skills where they count.

In 2024, Atlanta FaZe is already off to a flying start, topping the table and dropping just three maps out of a whopping eighteen played. For years, the combination of aBeZy, Cellium, and Simp has proven to be a winning formula, making Atlanta FaZe one of the best Call of Duty teams on Earth.

3. Toronto Ultra
Toronto Ultra has been a consistent Call of Duty League team for years, but the squad’s form peaked during the 2023 season following the signing of Thomas ‘Scrap’ Ernst. During this season, the team produced a remarkable record and proved to be nigh unstoppable, securing a win at Major III and ultimately ending up in second place at COD Champs. If that wasn’t enough, Toronto Ultra almost topped the charts during almost every Major qualifying round.

At present, the team is a contender for the top spot, having hit the ground running in 2024 and setting high expectations.

4. OpTic Texas
OpTic is the beloved golden child of Call of Duty esports and has been so for years. It’s the most recognisable brand in gaming alongside FaZe and it’s a staple of the COD scene – and that’s why it simply must field the best teams. In 2024, the OpTic Texas roster is looking sharp and refined. Despite consistently fair finishes and solid efforts, OpTic Texas hasn’t lifted a trophy since 2022, during the Vanguard season. That’s not for a lack of trying, though.

Time and again, OpTic Texas proves it’s a championship-worthy team. Since that Major win, there have been seven second-place finishes, with OpTic sometimes being pipped to the post by single points. The team often finishes T3 in the qualifying rounds and puts up a dramatic fight during every fixture, it just needs to work on those finishes.

5. Miami Heretics
The Miami Heretics is an all-new team for the CDL 2024 season. This organisation moved in from Spain to take the Florida Mutineers’ spot in the CDL, and the squad has already shown it means business this season. With three solid wins to open up the CDL 2024 season, Miami Heretics has brought a fire to the League that’s being feared by teams up and down the scoreboard. Even in defeat, the Miami Heretics are a strong force and ultimately, it’s a squad that bears high expectations for the year ahead.
