A superhero wrestler, a pop idol revenge plot, and DC’s own Harley Quinn are what you can expect this summer anime season. There’s a new season full of anime to check out this Summer like the return of Oshi no Ko, the beautifully animated The Elusive Samurai, and the highly anticipated Suicide Squad ISEKAI. Across Crunchyroll, HIDIVE, Hulu, and Netflix, as well as others, there are a lot of places to enjoy anime at the moment.

Check out some anticipated series in the video above or the slideshow gallery below, followed by the full list of new Summer season 2024 anime and where to watch them in the U.S. and their respective streaming platforms. Anime listed are available now unless otherwise stated.

Best New Anime to Watch (Summer Season 2024)Kinnikuman Perfect Origin Arc (Netflix)Ultimate Muscle is back! Sort of. Kinnikuman Perfect Origin Arc is set before the 2000s 4KIDS series that some of us may be familiar with. Instead of Kid Muscle, this new series follows his father and his past accomplishments. Kinnikuman Perfect Origin Arc celebrates the 40th anniversary of the original anime that began airing in Japan back in 1983. Production I.G., which is known for Haikyu!! and the recent Kaiju No. 8, is the studio behind this new iteration of the beloved wrestling series, so expect some amazing Kinniku Busters among other moves as the season progresses. Kinnikuman Perfect Origin Arc is now available on Netflix.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest (Crunchyroll)Natsu and friends return in a new adventure with Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest. Following the events of the original anime, our plucky protagonist and friends travel to the very first Wizard Guild to take on one of the oldest uncompleted quests ever. So far, the series continues to have its fun shenanigans while adding some new faces to the mix. J.C. Staff, the studio behind Food Wars! and Edens Zero, is producing the animation this time around instead of A-1 Pictures from the original run. If you’re a fan of Fairy Tail, there’s just more to love with this continuation of the series. Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest is now available on Crunchyroll.

Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture (Hulu, Disney+)Another series making a return this season is Code Geass. Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture follows the events of the Lelouch of the Re;surrection 2019 movie, which is part of an alternate timeline that stemmed from the compilation films prior. So if you’ve only seen the original series, it may help to catch up on these films first. Studio Sunrise, which is known for Mobile Suit Gundam and Cowboy Bebop, is back again heading production on the series so expect some great mecha action. Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture is now available on Hulu and Disney+.

The Elusive Samurai (Crunchyroll)Are you looking for a new series with some humor and dark, intense action this season? Then the Elusive Samurai is one to check out. The series follows Tokiyuki, the next successor to the shogunate, who doesn’t care about being a leader. Instead, he wants to live a carefree life. That is until disaster happens and his home is destroyed alongside everyone he cares for. With the assistance of an odd priest, Tokiyuki continues to live on despite the threat of being hunted down. Cloverworks, the studio behind Bocchi the Rock! and Wind Breaker, is taking on animation for the series, and the visuals are amazing. From the choices of facial expressions to the beautifully animated movement of our swift protagonist, there’s a lot to look forward to with this new series. The Elusive Samurai is now available on Crunchyroll.

Rising Impact (Netflix)Are you trying to find a new sports anime to dive into? Look no further than Rising Impact! The series follows Gawain, a young boy who strives to hit the world’s longest ball. Initially, this meant becoming a baseball player, but he soon meets a professional golfer who opened his eyes to the sport of golf. If you’re wondering why the character designs look familiar, Rising Impact was created by Nakaba Suzuki, who also created The Seven Deadly Sins series. Lay-duce, the studio behind Magi: Adventure of Sinbad and Tomo-chan Is a Girl!, is heading animation for this series, and its visuals look quite good so far. Rising Impact is available now on Netflix.

Kimi ni Todoke Season 3 (Netflix, August 1)Are you curious about a slice-of-life this summer? The rom-com Kimi ni Todoke may be worth a look as it returns with Season 3. The series follows Sawako and Shota, an unlikely pairing that grows into something more. With Season 3, we see how the two navigate this new level of their relationship alongside their friends’ own experiences. Production I.G. studio is handling animation again as they did for the previous seasons, so fans can expect more of what they’ve loved thus far. Kimi ni Todoke Season 3 is available on Netflix on August 1st.

My Deer Friend Nokotan (Crunchyroll)Another fun slice-of-life series available this season is My Deer Friend Nokotan. The series follows Torako, a student who runs into a mysterious girl with horns who’s stuck on electrical wires. It’s as ridiculous as it sounds, but in a good way. The humor is very reminiscent of Nichijou (think that amazing over-the-top deer vs principal scene). Wit Studio, known for Spy x Family and Ranking of Kings, is heading the animation, so this should look great in all its crazy school silliness. My Deer Friend Nokotan is available now on Crunchyroll.

Oshi no Ko Season 2 (HIDIVE)Oshi no Ko, a 2024 Crunchyroll Anime of the Year nominee and one of the most popular series of the last few years, is back with Season 2. Season 1 of the series left us with a blossoming pop idol opportunity and a revenge plot left unsolved for the two reincarnated sibling protagonists. Studio Doga Kobo is back to produce Season 2, so we expect more visual greatness among some hopefully huge revelations as the new season progresses. Oshi no Ko Season 2 is now available on HIDIVE.

Tower of God Season 2 (Crunchyroll)Tower of God returns with Season 2 this summer! When we last left the protagonist Bam, his plans were changed and he was left with a huge decision to make. The Answer Studio is taking the animation production reins from Telecom Animation Film this season. With that said, the creative team did mention that Season 2 has a new art style, with the goal of being closer to the original webtoon. Knowing that some time has passed since the events of Season 1, it’ll be interesting to see how some reunions (if any) unfold as the season progresses. Tower of God Season 2 is available now on Crunchyroll.

Suicide Squad ISEKAI (Hulu, MAX, Disney+)Lastly, the highly anticipated Suicide Squad ISEKAI is finally here! It’s amazing to see how DC has branched out into anime with Batman Ninja and the plethora of animated originals they have created over the years. In usual Suicide Squad fashion, fan-favorite Harley Quinn and the other eclectic members of this criminal team are put on an impossible task that leads them into a strange new world. As the title suggests, this series is an isekai with DC characters, so of course we can expect ridiculous antics. Not to mention, Wit Studio is producing the animation, and they’re well known for Attack on Titan and Spy x Family. All these elements combined just scream a good time if you’re a fan of either DC or isekai anime. Suicide Squad ISEKAI is now available on Hulu, MAX, and Disney+.
