Every year, a certain crowd reminds the world that they willingly sit through almost four hours of a football game just to see the commercials that play during game breaks and timeouts. For decades now, companies have spent millions of dollars to get an ad spot during one of the most viewed events of the year, and they make it worthwhile by featuring the biggest celebrities.

This year, the presence of Hip-Hop and R&B was largely felt. Beyoncé, Usher, Lil Wayne, and more all graced people’s television screens in hilarious ways. In case you got up to use the bathroom or get a second plate and missed one of their commercials, VIBE has got you covered on a quick recap of our beloved stars and Super Bowl LVIII commercials they showed up in.

Beyoncé Shocks The World Once Again

The world stopped and carried on once again thanks to Beyoncé. She appeared in Verizon’s very meta commercial advertising their strong 5G internet connection and attempted to break it through various means. She opened a lemonade stand in homage to her 2016 surprise album Lemonade, promoted a saxophone album, debuted her own Twitch stream, created a robot, reimagined the recent Barbie movie in her image, and even ran for “Beyoncé of the United States.”

Even reimagining her Renaissance cover on top of the Las Vegas sphere and launching a rocket into space for a performance couldn’t topple Verizon’s amazing internet connection, but she had one last trick up her sleeve: surprise announcing new music. Renaissance Act II is slated to come out on March 29 and she shared two singles, “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages,” as a precursor to what looks like will be a full country album. One thing about Bey is people should always expect the unexpected.

Christopher Walken starred in BMW’s Super Bowl commercial and had a surprise run-in with Usher. At one point in the minute-long ad, he goes to get dinner and answers “Yeah” when asked if the seat he’s brought to is sufficient. The waiter replies “Yeah!” in a sing-songy voice which triggers Usher to ask “Did somebody say ‘Yeah’?” Walken reminds the superstar that he has somewhere to be, and the Confessions artist dances his way out of the restaurant.

Homes.com enlisted the help of all of the best people to assist in their efforts to understand their target audiences. Lil Wayne was one of their trusted agents and went to a school to ask if the kids were a fan of “Meatloaf Monday’s” before offering them the opportunity to see what $100,000 in cash looked like.

Kid ‘n Play appeared in a Progressive commercial but seemed to bite off more than they could chew in hosting a Super Bowl LVIII watch party. The attendees danced in front of the TV, blocking their view, and one person kicked a hole in the wall.

Ice Spice broke her former favorite soda’s heart in Starry’s Super Bowl commercial spot. She enjoyed a refreshing glass of the beverage while her ex-beau exploded in sadness; no, literally, Lemon-lime soda came out of his head, neck, and ears. There’s more fish in the sea, bro!

Ben Affleck decided to test out his musical chops, despite Jack Harlow trying to say he shouldn’t, and it left Jennifer Lopez quite embarrassed. The actor debuted “DunKings,” which featured Tom Brady and Matt Damon, but neither J Lo nor Fat Joe were impressed with the musical performance.

Cardi B appeared in NYX’s commercial for a new lip-plumping lip gloss which was pretty straightforward. However, men in the ad seemingly believed that it would help them enhance something else, and that didn’t work out too well for them.

Usher And Others Suffer From Amnesia

Uber Eats wants you to remember them, even if you forget everything else in life. Usher appeared in the commercial and somehow forgot that he was performing during halftime of the Super Bowl. In another commercial spot, he forgot how to skate. Amnesia is powerful.

You ever have somebody borrow something from you for so long that you have to borrow it back? Snoop Dogg found himself in that scenario in BIC’s commercial for the EZ Reach lighter. The Doggfather was frustrated that Nelson was bragging about how much the lighter made his life easier and yelled for him to give it back.

Kanye West Does The Most Kanye West Commercial Spot Ever

Kanye West can only be himself. The Chicago producer admitted that he spent his entire commercial budget on the actual commercial so he wasn’t able to put together his usual grandiose work. However, he still encouraged people to check out Yeezy.com for shoes. Whether he was being honest or acting, it was pretty funny.
