SummerSlam is already one of WWE’s most important premium live events each year, but the 2024 edition is shaping up to be a pivotal moment for the company, as most wrestling fans expect the return of former world champion Roman Reigns.

In the likely main event of the August showcase, Solo Sikoa will challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. After being off WWE programming since WrestleMania 40, it’s time for Reigns’ triumphant return to close SummerSlam.

As the new Tribal Chief, Sikoa has formed his own version of the Bloodline, which has been adding new members and running roughshod over the main roster. The group has set its sights on Rhodes, but it has not accounted for Reigns’ return.

In recent weeks, Sikoa and his group have brutally attacked Paul Heyman and started running down Reigns and his run as Head of the Table. With fans actively chanting the former champion’s name, the stage has been set for Reigns to return as a beloved face.

The odds are against Rhodes at SummerSlam, but the bout was booked as a standard singles match, meaning outside interference would get the challenger disqualified and allow the champion to retain successfully.

WWE Creative has been firmly on Rhodes’ side since he won the world title, so the odds suggest the champion will get beat down for much of his match against Sikoa, but he will eventually overcome the odds and walk away victorious.

With Sikoa laid out, the trio of Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa and Jacob Fatu should attack Rhodes and look to physically destroy him. As they prepare to cross the line and the champion’s career, Reigns’ music should hit, sending the crowd in Cleveland into a frenzy.

Reigns should slowly walk to the ring, letting the WWE Universe and the Bloodline question why he is there. The former champion should help Sikoa to his feet, stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the new Bloodline, and surround Rhodes.

Instead of beating the champion down, though, Reigns should begin attacking the new version of the Bloodline, inadvertently fighting alongside Rhodes. As the two men clear the ring, they should eventually come toe-to-toe again, but this time with the crowd split on who they support.

After the Bloodline retreats up the ramp, Reigns should roll out of the ring, teasing a future match against Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship and a future battle for supremacy of the Bloodline.
