Breanna Stewart Drops 2-Word Advice to Angel Reese’s Ex-LSU Teammate Flau’jae Johnson
An Elite Eight exit at the hands of Iowa means that LSU will have to try next year for their second national title. However, it will be an uphill task for them, as some influential names like Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith are no longer a part of their roster. Still, fans can look up to the 2023 SEC Freshman of the Year Flau’jae Johnson to make full use of her NCAA title run experience. Before that, however, she received some much-needed guidance from the 4× NCAA champion, Breanna Stewart.
Having a conversation with her on a range of subjects on the Best of Both Worlds With Flau’jae podcast, one of the concluding points of the episode was Flau’jae asking Stewie for some valuable advice on how to win national championships. “Be consistent. Consistently like setting the tone. Whether it’s like summer workouts, or preseason, or in the season. You don’t just win national championships in March and April. You start that in August, September,” Stewart told Johnson on the podcast.
Stewart was part of Geno Auriemma’s elite unit that won 4 consecutive NCAA titles between 2013 and 2016. On the other hand, Johnson clinched the title as a freshman in 2023 under Kim Mulkey’s guidance and alongside Angel Reese. Now, with the departure of some key players from the program, the 5 ft 10 in guard might be entrusted with more responsibilities than before.

In this aspect as well, the 2× WNBA champion had some words of wisdom for the Lady Tiger. Stewart further added, “Your team is different. Your team has changed since you first won. Showing them the ropes, you know, because now it’s on you to kinda lead that group. Take advantage of it. Embrace the leadership role.”

The music debut of Flau’jae Johnson took its inaugural step last month with the release of her album Best of Both Worlds. This project is in collaboration with 5x Grammy Award winner Lil Wayne. The teaser of this development was provided by her at the 2024 Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity.
However, its official release was announced by her through a special Instagram post. She captioned it, “I wanna thank God for the ability to use my voice as a vessel to share his love, light, and positivity. Secondly, I want to thank my mom for sacrificing EVERYTHING to help me chase my dream, I love you for life.”
A lot of LSU’s national aspirations will depend on Flau’jae Johnson. She has shown as a sophomore that she is more than qualified to step up and deliver when the situation demands. Can she be the main catalyst who drives LSU to another historic campaign? Only time will tell.
