British Olympic triathlon gold medal winner added to stellar T100 women’s line up for 2025

The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) and World Triathlon have announced the four female ‘Hot Shots’ who will be racing on the T100 Triathlon World Tour throughout the 2025 season.

They include British Olympians Jess Learmonth – a Mixed Team Relay gold medal winner in Tokyo as well as a European, Commonwealth and World Triathlon Series medal winner – and Kate Waugh, who competed in Paris and won the 2022 U23 World Triathlon Championship.

American Olympic silver medallist Taylor Spivey, who proved she can mix it with the best at three T100 races following Paris 2024, returns to the fray.

And the quartet is completed by 22-year old up-and-comer Laura Madsen of Denmark, who had a breakthrough season in 2024, with wins in Ironman 70.3 and Challenge events.

‘Delighted to be back’

They will all receive contracts to race on the 2025 T100 Triathlon World Tour, with ‘Hot Shots’ described as proven performers from the world of triathlon who didn’t automatically gain entry to the next series or qualify through their PTO World Ranking.

They might be athletes who were on the cusp last season, those moving up from racing short distance racing or athletes with palmares and pedigree coming back from injury or maternity.

In the case of the four above, Learmonth returned to the sport last summer following the birth of her first child and had been scheduled to race T100 London as a wildcard before being ruled out by injury.

“Delighted to be back having fun, with some triathlon pals,” posted Learmonth on Instagram when the T100 news was revealed.

Potential superstars

Spivey and Waugh are both stepping up in distance but the former is already in the top 20 of the PTO middle and long-distance rankings after finishing 11th, fifth and eighth respectively in the T100 races in Ibiza, Las Vegas and Dubai last season.

That saw her narrowly miss out on an automatic top-10 overall spot.

Waugh meanwhile has won the Laguna Phuket Triathlon in each of the last two seasons over a hybrid distance of 1.8km / 55km / 12km but has yet to race over 100k.

And Madsen powered up the rankings on the back of her 2024 campaign which featured three victories and also saw her take part in four T100 races as a wildcard.

It was also recently announced that she has joined the BMC Pro Triathlon Team for 2025.

The Hot Shots join Taylor Knibb (USA), Ashleigh Gentle (AUS), Julie Derron (SUI), Flora Duffy (BER), Lucy Byram (GBR), India Lee (GBR), Imogen Simmonds (SUI) and Paula Findlay (CAN) who are all signed up for the 2025 T100 Triathlon World Tour following the announcement before Christmas.

In 2024 the T100 comprised seven races which featured most of the world’s top 20 female and top 20 male triathletes competing head-to-head in a series of iconic locations – including Singapore, San Francisco, London, Ibiza, Lake Las Vegas and then Dubai for the T100 Triathlon World Championship Final.

Seven stops have already been announced for 2025. They include a return to Singapore on 5-6 April to start the new series, then a new trip to France for the first French Riviera T100 Triathlon before going to San Francisco, London, Ibiza, Las Vegas and Dubai.

Further 2025 races as well as remainder of the T100 contracted athletes will be revealed later this month.
