Calista Flockhart Says She and Husband Harrison Ford Play Practical Jokes on Each Other
Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart make sure to keep things playful and fun at home with practical jokes.
Flockhart recently opened up to The New York Times about their life together and said she often refers to herself as the āScare Monsterā when theyāre at their house.
āBecause I hide behind every corner,ā the Ally McBealĀ alum explained. āAnd so Harrison will walk in, and then Iāll go, āRaaah!ā And heāll go, āW-uy-aah!ā And then I die laughing.ā
She continued about their pranks, āIāll put a plastic spider inside his big ice cubes in the tray, and then heāll drink it. But then Iāll go to bed two weeks later, and heās out of town in Jackson, and Iāll take the covers down and thereās this little rubber scorpion. Itās fun.ā
The Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny star and Flockhart tied the knot in 2010 after they met eight years prior at the Golden Globe Awards in 2002.
The actress explained to the Times that one of the reasons they have been able to maintain a romantic and playful relationship is because she was āreally content being homeā as a full-time mother, adding, āI didnāt have the same dreams at the time, so we werenāt competing with each other.ā
While she noted that theyāre āvery independent of each otherā in many ways and āincredibly codependentā in others, Flockhart admitted that her independence actually scared Ford at first.
āWhen I first met him, he said, āYou are the most self-sufficient woman in the world, and I donāt know how I feel about that,’ā she recalled. āI remember I said, āWhat are you talking about?ā Because I didnāt recognize I was self-sufficient.ā
Flockhart added that another reason things work so well between the couple is because theyāre āboth pretty introverted. We stay home a lot, homebodies, which is nice.ā
Ford is the adoptive father of Flockhartās son, Liam, whom she adopted in 2001.
