Cameron Carter-Vickers, Celtic clinch Scottish Premiership title
The 2023-24 Scottish Premiership title race has officially been decided.
Cameron Carter-Vickers and Celtic repeated as SPFL winners on Wednesday after rolling past Kilmarnock 5-0 away from home. It marked the third title success for the American defender since originally joining Celtic on loan in 2022.
Adam Idah broke the deadlock for Celtic in the fifth minute before Daizen Maeda doubled the Hoops lead only seven minutes later.
James Forrest extended the visitors lead to 3-0 before halftime, giving Brendan Rodgers squad a comfortable cushion heading into the second half. Matt OâRiley added a brace of his own in the second half to truly pad Celticâs advantage at Rugby Park.

Carter-Vickers completed the most passes in the match (116) while also winning six duels, making five clearances, and five recoveries. The 26-year-old has remained a consistent performer this season despite missing periods through injury.
âThis is the third title now, but each one is special in its own way,â Carter-Vickers said in a club interview postmatch. âThis is why you prepare each summer to go again in a new season, so itâs a great feeling to cap it off with another title.â
Celtic will enjoy its title lift in Glasgow on Saturday against St. Mirren before facing off with rivals Rangers in the Scottish Cup Final on May 25.
Carter-Vickers will hope for another trophy lift by seasonâs end before potentially joining up with the U.S. menâs national team this summer.
