Camila Cabello Referenced an Iconic Selena Gomez Movie in a Daring Look For Paris Fashion Week
There’s nothing random about Camila Cabello’s Paris Fashion Week statement piece.
On September 27, the âJune Gloomâ singer was photographed front-row at the Vetements’ latest runway show wearing a lacy gloved bodysuit and matching black bra with a sporty black mini-skirt, topping everything off with a massive black coat inspired by your favorite oversized hoodie.
Am I missing anything? Oh yeah, the real star of the show was the black Vetements ski mask featuring a pair of dangling diamond earrings. While the mask didn’t stop fans in Paris from recognizing Cabello, it definitely gave her look the âdark feminine energyâ she was probably going for.

While Vetements is known for conversation-starting runway moments, Camilla Cabello and fashion stylist Katie Qian clearly had a specific vision for the front-row look. The ski mask was an obvious reference to Cabello’s latest album C,XOXO, which took direct inspiration from Spring Breakers, the 2013 neon-soaked party girl classic starring Vanessa Hudgens, Rachel Korine, Ashley Benson, and Cabello’s close friend Selena Gomez.
In an album trailer released in May, the 27-year-old pop star stakes her claim over Miami Beach with her own âgirl gangâ dressed in neon swimwear and pink ski masks, much like the ones worn during an armed robbery in the Harmony Korine film. âWe had a lot of visual inspiration from Spring Breakers,â Cabello told radio host Josh Brubaker in June.
While promoting C,XOXO, Cabello revealed she included photos from Spring Breakers on a Pinterest board during the songwriting process. âI was taking pictures of this kind of girl gang energy like the Spring Breakers girls with the ski masks on, and it feeling kind of very empowering and kind of dangerous,â Cabello said during her appearance on The Bru Show. âLike tapping into that kind of like dangerous side of yourself.â
Now, she’s bringing that energy to Paris Fashion Week. âReal miami girl in paris,â she captioned a Instagram post from the Vetements show, which included a mini Fifth Harmony reunion with Normani. She signed off, âxoxoxoxoxoxo.â
