Cam’ron Claims He Was Offered Key To NYC, Which Was Previously Taken Back From Diddy
Diddy has lost a lot over these last several months following the many lawsuits thrown his way for rape, assault, and sex trafficking; one of his lesser-discussed losses was the key to New York City, which Mayor Eric Adams awarded him in September 2023 and took back after footage surfaced of him assaulting Cassie. Cam’ron recently revealed that he was offered the key to NYC but he declined it.
During a recent episode of his popular sports talk show It Is What It Is, he joked with his co-host Mase about the Bad Boy founder’s current situation before transitioning to Adams’ recent indictment. Killa Cam took the opportunity to tell his cast a story.
“You know what’s crazy? This is word to everything I love,” the Harlem rapper began. “Last month, they called me to see if I wanted the key to the city. I said, ‘I don’t want to be involved with nothing.’ They offered me that sh*t. They said ‘Cam, you want the key to the city?’ [I replied] ‘That ain’t really up my alley right now, I’m cool with the key to New York City.’ That’s word to blood, word to everything I love.”
Cam’ron and Mase shared a hearty laugh about the situation given what is currently going on with both Diddy and Mayor Eric Adams. “What does that get you?” Cam asked about the significance and possible perks of being given a key to a city. “I don’t want nothing to do with keys to the city and ni**as giving ’em out, the ni**as who previously had ’em, I don’t got nothing to do with the keys to the city.”
He even joked about how he had to be in New York City for “20 minutes,” hinting at his desire to stay far away from the city due to it being “hot,” which was a double entendre for the temperature and everything taking place legally. Mayor Eric Adams was indicted last week for corruption, fraud, bribery, procuring campaign contributions from foreign nationals, and more. He made history as he became the first NYC mayor to be indicted while in office.
“I always knew that if I stood my ground for New Yorkers that I would be a target—and a target I became,” he said in response to the indictment. “If I am charged, I am innocent and I will fight this with every ounce of my strength and spirit. I have been facing these lies for months… yet the city has continued to improve. Make no mistake. You elected me to lead this city, and lead it, I will.”
