‘Can’t buy the character’ says Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw after historic World Series win

Los Angeles Dodgers’ iconic starter Clayton Kershaw’s career is officially in the rearview after Los Angeles defeated the Toronto Blue Jays in an epic World Series. Kershaw is undoubtedly a first ballot Hall of Famer, and he spent all 18 seasons as a pro with the Dodgers.

Following the World Series victory, which is the second consecutive Fall Classic title the Dodgers have brought back to LA, Clayton Kershaw had choice words for all the naysayers out there who question the Dodgers’ spending and character.

However, Clayton Kershaw sees it differently, and he spoke to Ken Rosenthal following game seven to voice his thoughts:

“Everyone talks about the Dodgers and how much money we spend and how we’re supposed to do this, and all this stuff,” Kershaw said. “I tell you what, man. You can’t buy the character, the heart and the willingness to do things that other people wouldn’t do.”

However, Kershaw has seen just about everything in his 18 seasons as a pro, and it’s clear he’s very passionate about this year’s group of players.

Iconic players of any sport in any organization rarely get to finish off their careers on their own terms, but Kershaw did just that this season after capturing his third World Series title. He’s an 11X All-Star, MVP winner, 3X CY Young, and the list can go on, but for him to stand up for his teammates after his very last game shows how special a player and teammate he has been.
