Canucks make history and save their season with 3 goals in final minute

It’s one thing to dig yourself out of a hole, but another entirely to have to climb a mountain in the process — but that’s exactly what the Vancouver Canucks did on Tuesday night.

Entering the final minute the Canucks were losing 5-2 to the Dallas Stars, desperately trying to keep their playoff hopes alive and needing a win to have any hopes of finding back door to the wild card. They needed at least two points to stave off elimination, so the only option was pulling their goalie and going empty net with six players, Vancouver not only pulled off hockey’s equivalent of a Hail Mary — but they did it three times in a single minute.

It left the Dallas fans completely stunned. Some of whom had already left the arena, trying to beat the traffic with the confidence that the win was in hand. A flurry of shots, great forechecking, and amazing passing absolutely blitzed Stars goaltender Casey DeSmith, who allowed five goals in the final period to send the game to overtime.

With momentum in hand, Vancouver dropped the hammer on a shot by Kiefer Sherwood to win in overtime and complete the most incredible comeback hockey has ever seen.
