There’s a new betting favorite to win the College Football Playoff national title.
After Ohio State trounced Oregon in the Rose Bowl on Wednesday, the Buckeyes have emerged as +125 favorites to win it all, according to DraftKings Sportsbook. No. 8 Ohio State took down the top-seeded Ducks 41-21 to advance to the CFP semifinal.
Heading into the College Football Playoff, Oregon was the favorite to win the national title thanks to an undefeated season and a win over Penn State in the Big Ten championship game. Texas then shifted to the favorite after its first-round win over Clemson.
With the way Ohio State dominated the Ducks on Wednesday, it makes perfect sense why the Buckeyes became the favorite.
Ohio State took control from the jump, going up 7-0 after its first drive and piling on three more touchdowns and two field goals to make it 34-0. The Ducks finally got on the board with a last-second touchdown heading into halftime.
Oregon started to find its offense in the second half, but it was too little, too late after the Buckeyes dominated the first half.
Ohio State, which stumbled in the final game of the regular season with an upset loss to Michigan, seems to have flipped a switch in recent weeks. The Buckeyes pounded No. 9 Tennessee 42-17 in the first round and made light work of one of the best teams in football on Wednesday.
Now, Ohio State has a date with No. 5 Texas in the Cotton Bowl next week with a chance to advance to the national championship game. The Buckeyes are rolling at the right time and will look to continue doing so against the Longhorns.
