The pair of sporting titans were ready to settle their rivalry at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, in front of a raucous crowd who’d loved every second of the storyline they’d marinated while filming The Ultimate Fighter.

And while the 2x UFC champion is unlikely to receive his wish, by the sounds of it, he might just get the next best thing.

In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, ‘The American Gangster’ claimed: “An inside scoop that I’m getting is that the UFC wants all of those same things [McGregor vs. Chandler] they just wanted it in January in California.”

In addition, Sonnen can’t believe that the legendary athlete is still so popular, with almost a decade having passed since he first picked up the UFC crown.

He explained: “I was blown away with the evidence that Conor McGregor- top draw, red panty night- is still in full effect.”
