Champions League top scorers of all time: Record-breaking Robert Lewandowski hits Messi, Ronaldo milestone as Haaland surpasses Salah

Sports Mole rounds up the all-time top scorers list in the Champions League, a collection of legends led by two of the greatest of all time in Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Robert Lewandowski became just the third player in Champions League history to pass the 100-goal mark with his brace in Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Brest on Tuesday evening.

The Polish striker scored the first and third goals on the night as Barca overcame the tournament debutants – and one of the surprise packages this season – to boost their own qualification hopes.

In doing so, Lewandowski joined Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the only players to reach a century of goals in the competition since its inception in 1955.

Lewandowski boasts a better goals-per-game ratio than both of his contemporary centurions, and also reached the landmark from just 451 shots; Messi needed 527 to bring up his 100, while Ronaldo entered triple figures after a whopping 793 attempts.

Another of Europe’s premier marksmen also helped himself to a brace on Tuesday evening, as Manchester City’s Erling Haaland scored twice to move on to 46 goals from only 44 Champions League appearances.

In doing so, Haaland moved clear of Chelsea legend Didier Drogba and above Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, while drawing level with the goalscoring tallies of Eusebio and Filippo Inzaghi.

The Norwegian also brought up his 50th goal involvement in the Champions League, reaching that mark quicker than any other player in the competition’s history.

However, the night ended in more heartache for Haaland as he watched on helplessly during a remarkable capitulation from Pep Guardiola’s side, who threw away a 3-0 lead in the final 15 minutes against Feyenoord to draw 3-3.

There was individual disappointment for two other members of the 40-goal club on Wednesday night, with Kylian Mbappe and Mohamed Salah both missing penalties as Liverpool beat holders Real Madrid 2-0 at Anfield.

Here, Sports Mole looks at the records of every player to have scored 40 or more goals in Champions League history.
