Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan: A Complete Break Up and Divorce Timeline
Back in 2018 Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan devastated their fans by announcing their separation after nearly nine years of marriage. Up until that point, the duo, who met on the set of Step Up in 2006 and got hitched in 2009, appeared to be one of Hollywood’s happiest power duos, with their epic appearance on Lip Sync Battle widely regarded as one of pop culture’s greatest celebrity couple moments to this day.
For the most part, the pair remained a united front throughout their transition from spouses to coparents of their daughter, Everly, born in 2013. âWe have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple,â they wrote in their joint announcement in April 2018. âWe fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now.â
Six years later, however, the pair still haven’t reached a financial settlementâand it looks like their amicable split hit a speed bump over Tatum’s profits from the Magic Mike franchise.

Dewan has reportedly singled out Magic Mike as their âlargest issueâ and is looking for âan equal division of the Magic Mike intellectual property.â According to People, Dewan claims the franchise was âdeveloped and cofinanced by Channing during marriage with community effort and marital funds,â but Tatum has âcolludedâ to âshelterâ the profits from his ex partner.
Meanwhile, Tatum refutes this claim, with his lawyers arguing that the actor âcontinued to create and develop [Magic Mike] since [their] separation.â Based on the court filing, it seems Tatumâwho is currently engaged to ZoĂ« Kravitzâis eager to finalize their divorce settlement, having âexhausted all efforts in an attempt to settle this matter without litigation.â

What now?ââ He doesn’t go into heavy detail about the cause for their split but says the pair had âgrown apart.â
âI think we told ourselves a story when we were young, and we just kept telling ourselves that story, no matter how blatantly life was telling us that we were so different,â he says. âBut when youâre actually parents, you really understand differences between the two of you. She continues, âYou know, youâre up a couple times in the night and then youâre working all day. I was breastfeeding, I was pumping, I was without a partner. I mean, it was just craziness.â
After the interview goes live, Dewan claims her words were taken out of context by media outlets. âItâs unfortunate that countless media outlets have taken an important conversation on a womanâs experience with postpartum issues and pulled quotes to make it appear that I was slamming my daughterâs father, something I would never do,â she writes in a note posted on X.com. âAs two working parents, we both faced challenges at the time, but I speak only for myself and not about him. Anyone who actually listens to the interview, something I encourage everyone to do, will clearly see that my words have been distorted for clicks and to push false, salacious gossip with no regard for the actual people involved or the message intended.â

She also addresses fans’ perceptions of their relationship, writing, âThe public saw Channing and I in this idealized romanticized light. This made things difficult for me because I like being as honest and real as I can.â

It was the loss of an idealistic future for myself and my life,â she says. âWhat does that now look like for me? Where do I begin? I met him when I was 24. I didnât know life without Chan.â
She also says the pair are focused on coparenting their daughter through this ânew chapter,â adding, âWeâre all aware that itâs a new normal; weâre all getting used to it.
