Chelsea learn the full extent of Cole Palmer’s injury ahead of Fulham clash

Chelsea’s big win over West Ham United was partially overshadowed by the injury to their talisman, Cole Palmer.

The Englishman was unable to feature despite being named in the starting side, being replaced by Estevao Willian minutes before kick-off.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca was careful while discussing the injury to Palmer after the game, and the consensus was that he was going to be sent off for a scan to see how bad things were.

While Palmer has been nowhere near his best in the recent past and is yet to score a goal from open play since January, he remains Chelsea’s most influential player.

After the youngster injured himself against West Ham, Maresca would have been hoping to have the player back as soon as possible, and now, renowned journalist Simon Phillips has provided an update on the player’s injury.

According to Phillips, Palmer has now undergone his scan, and the results were more positive than was expected.

Will Cole Palmer feature against Fulham on Saturday?Despite the above-mentioned fact, it is believed that the game on Saturday against Fulham might come a bit too soon for Palmer.

He said, “Cole Palmer had a scan on his groin today, and the results are positive, better than he first feared.

“Nothing serious or too bad showing up, but Chelsea and Cole will be cautious and Fulham might come too soon. We’ll see.”

While Chelsea are certain to miss Palmer’s services while he is out, if there is anything that the game against the Hammers taught us, it is that Chelsea can win without Palmer on their side.

If he cannot face Fulham, Palmer will be hoping he can be fit to face Brentford when club sides return from international duty.
