Chelsea plotting move for Brazilian winger
Chelsea will aim to record their first Premier League home win of the season when they face Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.Â
Enzo Maresca has enjoyed an impressive start to his tenure at Stamford Bridge, but the Blues are yet to win a home league match so far this term after losing to Manchester City and drawing against Crystal Palace prior to the international break.
The Italian will likely make wholesale changes to his side for the match, having made 11 changes for the visit of League Two Barrow in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.
Off the pitch, it appears that the Blues are hoping to continue their recruitment drive with a move for a La Liga winger.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes via CaughtOffside, the West London side are interested in Atletico Madrid winger Samuel Lino.
Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has spent more than ÂŁ1 billion since taking charge of the Blues in 2022
Lino joined Atleti from Portuguese outfit Gil Vicente two years ago and spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan at fellow Spanish side Valencia.
It is claimed that Chelsea are currently monitoring the Brazilian winger, 24, and could look to move for him in the near future.
The report also suggests that Chelsea would be willing to make âa significant investmentâ in the winger.
Chelsea have been on a recruitment drive since being taken over by American owners in 2022, signing a number of highly-rated attackers from all over the world.
Since returning to Madrid from Valencia last summer, Lino has scored eight goals and registered nine assists in 53 games for the club.
He has been heavily involved in the early weeks of the new campaign, starting six of Diego Simeoneâs sideâs opening seven matches of the La Liga season.
Linoâs contract with Atletico runs until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, which puts the Spanish side in a relatively strong negotiating position.
