Chelsea ready to sell £88 million winger in January
The Premier League returns when Chelsea make the short trip across London to face fierce rivals West Ham United on Saturday.
The Blues defeated Bournemouth 1-0 on the south coast last time out, while the Hammers rescued a late draw against Fulham courtesy of Danny Ings.
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca will hope to see his side record a third straight Premier League away win at the start of the new campaign, but their record at The London Stadium in recent seasons has been nothing short of dismal.
Ahead of the match, it has emerged that Chelsea are now ready to sell one of their most expensive ever signings.
As per TEAMtalk, winger Mykhaylo Mudryk could be sold during the upcoming January transfer window, with French side Marseille said to be interested.
The West London side have employed a somewhat chaotic transfer policy since their American owners took charge of the club in 2022, and that continued over the summer when several first team players were put up for sale.
The likes of Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah secured moves away but others, including Ben Chilwell, didn’t.
Mudryk could leave Chelsea in January
Now, it appears that Chelsea will continue selling first team squad members in January, and the report claims that Mudryk is likely to be one of those allowed to leave.
The 23-year-old joined the Blues from Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 – for a fee that could rise to £88.5 million – but he has since struggled for form at Stamford Bridge.
Since his move to England, the Ukraine international has scored just seven times in 62 appearances, as well as registering a meagre five assists.
He is contracted to the Blues until 2031, but the report suggests that the winger could be sold in the new year.
Surprisingly, German giants Bayern Munich swooped to sign the winger on loan earlier this year, and the report claims that they are still monitoring the player although their interest has dwindled.
French side Marseille, though, are believed to be frontrunners to land the attacker, with manager Roberto De Zerbi said to be a huge admirer.
