By Martin Graham | 29th Jun 2024Chelsea have completed the signing of teenage midfielder Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa. This deal follows shortly after Chelsea sold left-back Ian Maatsen to Villa for £37.5 million last Friday.

Kellyman, aged 18, has made the switch to Stamford Bridge for a fee of £19 million. Reflecting on his move, Kellyman expressed his excitement: “Being here as a Chelsea player is incredible. The club’s history is amazing, and it’s an honor to join. Wearing the Chelsea shirt feels like a dream come true, and I’m eager to get started.”

Last season, Kellyman made six senior appearances for Aston Villa. He has committed to a six-year contract with Chelsea, which includes an option to extend for an additional year. Kellyman is expected to integrate into Enzo Maresca’s first team this season, joining the squad for pre-season training before his immediate future is decided.

Youth recruitment in full swing at ChelseaChelsea are actively enhancing their youth squad with several new signings on the horizon. Following Kellyman’s arrival, the club is close to signing Barcelona striker Marc Guiu for £5 million, after he successfully passed his medical. Additionally, Boca Juniors centre-back Aaron Anselmino is nearing a £17 million transfer to Stamford Bridge.

Like Kellyman, Guiu is expected to participate in Chelsea’s pre-season activities. Anselmino, on the other hand, is likely to be loaned to Chelsea’s affiliated club Strasbourg in France once his transfer is completed. These strategic moves highlight Chelsea’s commitment to building a strong foundation with young talent for the future.
