Chelsea star could leave club this week

The final week of the transfer window is set to be a busy one for several Premier League clubs, none more so than Chelsea.

After signing no fewer than ten players already this summer, the Blues continue to be linked with further new arrivals.

Additionally, the West London outfit are also likely to offload a number of first team players, with Enzo Maresca’s current squad consisting of more than 40 players.

The likes of Ben Chilwell, Raheem Sterling and Trevoh Chalobah are all likely to leave Stamford Bridge before the window shuts, but it now appears that another of Chelsea’s English contingent could depart.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka could depart Chelsea this week.

Romano claims that the 20-year-old was left out of the Chelsea squad for their game against Wolves on Sunday as he is one of those that could still be sold before the end of the window.

Chukwuemeka scored on his second appearance for Chelsea, against West Ham United in August last year

Chukwuemeka joined the Blues from boyhood club Aston Villa for a fee of £20 million last summer, but made just 12 appearances for the London side during his debut season in the capital.

The Englishman scored on just his second appearance for the Blues, against West Ham United in August last year.

He suffered an injury later in that match, though, which ruled him out until January this year.

Romano claims that several clubs have approached Chelsea and the player’s representatives about potential moves for the player, who is now assessing his options.

It is also claimed that the midfielder will be joined by fellow countryman Chilwell and Sterling in departing Chelsea in the coming days.

Chukwuemeka is currently contracted to Chelsea until the end of the 2027/28 campaign, but it appears almost certain that he will depart the club prior to that date.
