Chelsea star reluctant to join Premier League rivals

Chelsea took a huge step towards Europa League qualification by beating Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday evening.

Cole Palmer put the Blues ahead at The Amex with his 27th goal of the season, before substitute Christopher Nkunku doubled their lead after the break.

Despite a late Danny Welbeck goal for the Seagulls, Mauricio Pochettino’s side held on to secure a crucial three points.

Chelsea now sit sixth in the Premier League table and could finish as high as fifth if results on the final day of the season go their way.

Pochettino appears to have done enough to ensure he will remain in his role beyond this summer, having previously been the subject of intense speculation that he will be sacked.

One player that has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge is midfielder Conor Gallagher, but it appears that the Englishman has decided against joining one of their Premier League rivals.

Gallagher has played an instrumental role for Chelsea this season

As per Football Insider, Gallagher is reluctant to join Newcastle United this summer.

The England international has been heavily linked with a move away from Chelsea for more than a year now, with Tottenham Hotspur also touted as a potential destination for the midfielder.

Gallagher, 24, is a product of the Blues’ youth academy and has made more than 90 appearances for the club at senior level.

He has played an integral role for Pochettino’s side this season, making 49 appearances across all competitions and captaining the side on several occasions.

It is claimed that Newcastle are long-term admirers of the Englishman and are aware of the fact that his contract is set to expire next summer, but the player himself isn’t keen on the idea of a move to St. James’ Park.

Gallagher is keen to stay put at Stamford Bridge and would instead look for a move to another London side if he is forced to depart, the report says.
