The Cheltenham Trials are the perfect batch of races that help set up a great insight to the festival in March.

With multiple Grade 2 meetings including the Triumph Juvenile Hurdle, with Burdett Road and Sir Gino the two main contenders making it a great battle to kick off the meeting.

The Paddy Power Cotswold Chase stars Stay Away Fay, Royale Pagaille, The Real Whacker, Ahoy Senor, Datsalrightgino and Capodanno.

It’s set to be a real thriller as a result, with Stay Away Fay the big favourite despite being rated much lower, but certainly has that potential over this kind of distance.

But it could be a great week for Rich Ricci and co. if Royale Pagaille can build on that fantastic win in the Haydock Betfair Chase to beat Bravemansgame, after the owner also saw the return of Monkfish in great style earlier this week.

With eight available £5 free bets there’s still a plethora of racing to choose from in this stacked card.

The Clarence House Chase sees Jonbon the clear odds-on favourite and the likely easy winner.

But there could be each-way value if you do fancy a surprise to the odds, with the likes of Editeur Du Gite next in the market in and around 6’s.

The International Hurdle sees odds-on favourite Lossiemouth who has gone in further in the odds, around 4/6. Despite coming up against the likes of Love Envoi and Rubaud, on what is her first run for 273 days!

The Cleeve Hurdle is also another must-watch, with Paisley Park, Dashel Drasher, Champ and the usual stayers’ hurdle gang.

But this time there’s a surprise entry with Noble Yeats, the Grand National winner of 2022 switching back to hurdles for just his third run in the discipline.

He won his debut over hurdles all the way back in 2021 at Navan and wasn’t seen again over those obstacles until December 2023, running a decent second to Sa Majeste, but the stamina trip is of course a very tempting angle.

Gidleigh Park looks to be a big justified favourite at even money for the eighth and final race of the day.

The Classic Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 2) sees the Harry Fry-trained six-year-old clear of his six rivals, Antrim Coast, Johnnywho, Isaac Des Obeaux, Lucky Place, Choccabloc and Moon D’Orange.

He’s not put a foot wrong yet and looks to extend his unbeaten run in this very winnable but tough contest.
