Chris Eubank Jr. fined $129,000 for slapping Conor Benn with an egg

Chris Eubank Jr. paid a hefty price for his bit of fun with Conor Benn.

Last month, at the first press conference for their upcoming boxing match, Eubank caused quite the stir when he slapped Benn with an egg during their face-off.

Unfortunately for Eubank, the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) did not look kindly on his action and on Tuesday, the governing body fined Eubank £100,000 (roughly $129,000) for his outburst.

“Following a hearing before the Stewards of the British Boxing Board of Control, Chris Eubank Jr. was found to be in breach of Regulation 25 (misconduct) for his conduct at the press conference in Manchester for the Chris Eubank Jr v Conor Benn contest on 26th April 2025,” the BBBoC said in a statement.

“As such, the Stewards of the Board fined Chris Eubank Jr the sum of £100,000.”

Eubank and Benn are both second-generation boxers, whose fathers had a memorable rivalry in the early 90s.

Eubank and Benn were originally set to face each other back in 2022, but the bout was canceled after Benn tested positive for Clomiphene — a banned substance that can increase testosterone levels in men — just days before the event.

Benn ultimately cleared his name and had his suspension lifted, but during the process also claimed that eating too many eggs led to his positive drug test. Eubank obviously took notice and that’s why he chose to slap Benn with the egg at the press conference.

“Me throwing an egg at somebody that claims that is the reason why he failed two drugs tests, because of contaminated eggs, I think that’s light. And I think that’s deserved,” Eubank later explained about his actions.

“He deserved the embarrassment of what happened. If I had the opportunity to do it again, I would.”

Eubank and Benn are set to face each other on April 26 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
